What's
your background?
I started my career at Yankee Atomic as
a co-op student in 1979. I was hired permanently in 1981 as a
junior designer. I worked in various positions in the design group
and in 1992 I became the supervisor of the Drafting/Design group.
I continued in that position when Yankee was acquired by Duke
Engineering & Services in 1997.
At AREVA NP Inc., I am currently supervisor of Technical
Operations responsible for the day-to-day activities of
the Drafting area and serve as the main point of contact for the
Marlborough, Mass., office and clients for drafting/design related
issues.
What's your job like on a daily
basis?
I am currently responsible for the day-to-day activities involving
drawings, interfacing with clients on drawing related issues and
managing the CAD system for the Marlborough office.
Most days the pace is very fast and the work is diversified supporting
both the Civil/Structural and the Engineering Programs Groups.
What do you like about your work?
I enjoy working with various software programs to generate drawings
for our projects. I especially like the challenge of learning
a new program when it is required by the client. It is also satisfying
when you see a structure or a piece of equipment you have designed
be fabricated and utilized by the client.
And outside of
work?
I was born in Worcester Mass., and grew up in Westborough. I am
married to Susan, who I met when I was working at Yankee Atomic.
We have two boys, Tom is 18 and Tim is 16. I enjoy coaching them
in hockey and baseball and also trying to beat them in golf.
