What is it like living in Charlotte?
Charlotte's central location in North Carolina is perfect because it is only two hours from the mountains and three hours from the beach. There is always something to do. For those interested in sports, Charlotte is home of both the Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Bobcats. The city also offers good shopping, with several malls only minutes away. There is a great nightlife around Charlotte and uptown Charlotte (restaurants, concerts, shows, bars, clubs, etc), and there is also the university area which offers several shopping centers, Lowe's Motor Speedway and the Verizon Wireless amphitheater. Other attractions of interest include multiple museums, golf courses, lakes, parks, Carowinds amusement park and more.

What drew you to AREVA NP Inc.?
I was drawn to AREVA NP Inc. by the opportunity to do an internship and get some real world experience, which is given more and more emphasis in today's world.

What does a typical day consist of?
I assist the corporate communications team in various tasks including internal and external communications. I normally sort through a number of voice-messages and e-mails and then work on either continuing projects or the day-to-day necessities of my team. During lunch I go out with other interns, which is always fun. Charlotte has plenty of great restaurants to choose from, and there is often live music outside.

What does AREVA NP Inc. offer that other companies cannot?
AREVA NP Inc. offers a wide array of services from many different departments including business, engineering, communications and financial departments.

What has been your biggest challenge?
Trying to dodge rush hour traffic and trying to decide where to eat lunch (there are so many options!).

What does your future at AREVA NP Inc. hold? What are your aspirations?
AREVA NP Inc. has definitely provided me with a number of great contacts that I will certainly utilize in the future. I hope to apply everything I have learned, in addition to my abundant experiences as an intern with this company, to a future career - perhaps even with AREVA NP Inc.

What was your biggest surprise at AREVA NP Inc.?
My biggest surprise at AREVA NP Inc. has to be the number of young new-hires and interns. I didn't realize that there were as many internship opportunities within the company, and it has been nice to share experiences with fellow interns here in Charlotte; I have made some great new friends.

What is the greatest opportunity you've been given as
an AREVA NP Inc. employee?

Visiting the AREVA NP Inc. headquarters in Lynchburg, Va., for the AREVA Intern Day was a great opportunity to meet with executive vice presidents, get to know interns at locations other than Charlotte and tour the sites/facilities.

What are the dynamics of your group?
The corporate communications team has been a very positive influence, and I have learned a great deal from all of the people in the group. Each person works hard and they are each good at what they do. It's an outgoing group that does a great job helping each other out and making work fun.

Why would you recommend AREVA NP Inc. to others
as a place of employment?

AREVA NP Inc. is a very successful company and is part of a growing industry. Everyone is easy to get along with, which makes coming to work fun. Also, I feel that there is a lot of diversity within AREVA NP Inc., which is also important.

What kinds of team building events are offered?
I found that the intern trip to Lynchburg, Va., provided a great opportunity to get to know other interns, the new hires within the company, the executive vice presidents, and Chief Executive Officer Tom Christopher. There were so many different activities including putt-putt golf, paintball, go-carts, batting cages, cook-outs, bowling and baseball games that promoted socializing; I had a blast!
