What is it like living in Charlotte?
I enjoy Charlotte's close proximity to the beach (three hours) and the mountains (two hours). Most of my weekends are spent either laying on the beach or hiking and rafting in the mountains. Charlotte's uptown also offers numerous bars and restaurants where you can spend time with friends!

What drew you to AREVA NP Inc.?
My previous company was acquired by the AREVA NP Inc. family and the company has since maintained my employment. I have never worked with such a fun and interesting group of individuals.

What does a typical day consist of?
I spend most of my day speaking with other engineers to solve everyday challenges arising from project work. Usually, there is at least one meeting or conference call each day to analyze design, schedule, budget, and so on for one of the many projects I am working on.

What does AREVA NP Inc. offer that other companies cannot?
AREVA NP Inc. offers empowerment, career development, knowledge acquisition (I learn something new every week) and worldwide travel.

What has been your biggest challenge?
I am a Mechanical undergrad working in the Instrumentation and Control (I&C) department. I have had numerous learning curves to overcome; however, the constant need to learn keeps my job very interesting. Also, being in the nuclear world offers many challenges because of each client's variations (including Quality Assurance programs and plant variations).

What does your future at AREVA NP Inc. hold? What are your aspirations?
I hope to be a Project Manager in a few years where I can keep my technical background in my hip pocket while focusing on scope, schedule, budget and client interface to produce a successful project.

What was your biggest surprise at AREVA NP Inc.?
I was surprised at how large and diverse AREVA NP Inc. is throughout the World. I was also surprising to see how much fun work can really be!

What is the greatest opportunity you've been given as an AREVA NP Inc. employee?
Being empowered to solve problems and get the job done.

What are the dynamics of your group?
I&C Plant Engineering is a great group to work with. Everyone makes an effort to help me understand and obtain the resources I need to be successful. Also, my management does an excellent job in asking what I want to do and what I want to learn about.

Why would you recommend AREVA NP Inc. to others
as a place of employment?

It offers an outstanding environment not only to grow in my profession but also to grow personally. The site travel is an outstanding way to learn about our industry, and doing unique project work ensures I will never encounter the exact same project twice.

What kinds of team building events are offered?
We have an annual Charlotte golf tournament which is an outstanding place to meet new people as well as kick back and have fun with people I see every day in the office environment.
